Did you know that July 1st is Canada Day?

Canada officially became a country of its own on July 1, 1867. Today Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories with a total population of 35,344,962 people.

Some other fun facts about Canada are:

  • We have a Prime Minister not a President
  • The real Winnie the Pooh is from Canada and was named after Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • Canada holds the record for the most gold medals ever won at the Winter Olympics, since taking 14 Golds at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
  • Canada has a desert in British Columbia
  • Canada has 6 time zones
  • Canada has the world’s longest coastline
  • Canada has been invaded by the United States twice, and we are still our own country!
  • Canada (then a British colony) burnt down the original White House in the United States
  • One of our territories use to have license plates shaped like Polar Bears
